Bars in Saariselkä: Village Pubs, Dances & a Summit Lounge

Where to drink in Saariselkä: pubs in the village centre, a gastropub, a dance restaurant, and an aurora lounge on the Kaunispää summit.

Most of the drinking is on a handful of village streets, with one bar at the summit of Kaunispää and one out on the ski trail.

Saariselkä keeps most of its bars in a few village streets. Gastropub Giitu on Revontulentie pours craft beer daily until 02, with the kitchen on until 22. Teerenpesä on Saariseläntie is three venues under one log roof: a Lappish restaurant, a sports pub with darts and pool, and a nightclub running couples’ dances and a disco floor. Further along the same street, Local Pub Panimo at number 10 has its own men’s and women’s saunas, and Lobby Bar Takka at number 13 is the fireplace bar at Lapland Hotels Riekonlinna. Kaunis Jorma on Kiveliöntie runs karaoke and free bingo on Thursdays at 19:00, Kieppi Kitchen & Bar on Raitopolku opens its bar corner several hours before the kitchen, and Restaurant Pirtti and the dance restaurant Siula share the restaurant building at Santa’s Hotel Tunturi on Lutontie. Two more sit up on Kaunispää: Restaurant Kaunis at Star Arctic Hotel, and the summit restaurant that becomes the Northern Lights Lounge.

The venues sit on five village streets: Saariseläntie, Revontulentie, Kiveliöntie, Raitopolku and Lutontie. Teerenpesä, Local Pub Panimo, Kaunis Jorma, Kieppi and Bistro & Café Kuukkeli each describe themselves as being in the centre of Saariselkä. Mettäbaari is the exception: it is 2 km out towards Laanila and you step in straight off the ski trail.

The Northern Lights Lounge runs at the Kaunispää summit restaurant on Wednesday and Saturday evenings through the dark season, on a ticket that includes entrance, one warm drink, snacks and a host. Return transfers from Saariselkä can be added to the ticket.

Several venues publish no daily hours: Restaurant Pirtti at Santa’s Hotel Tunturi opens in high seasons only, and Restaurant Kaunis at Star Arctic Hotel is closed from 20 April to 29 October 2026. The two Kakslauttanen bars, Igloo Bar and the Piano Bar, sit outside the village on Kiilopääntie.
