Where to drink in Salla: two bars at the ski resort, a karaoke pub on Hautajärventie and a village pub in Vallovaara. Hours, addresses, what to check.
Three of the four bars here run karaoke, and only one of those three is at the fell.
Salla splits two ways. Two of its bars are at the fell: Papana Pupi is the house pub of Sallatunturin Tuvat at Sallatunturi, Hangasjärventie 1, sharing a building with the reception and Restaurant Kiela, and its walls carry match jerseys and sticks from Finnish ice hockey players. Keloravintola, a log restaurant at Revontulentie 9, stands at the foot of the front slopes of Salla Ski Resort, fully licensed, with a sunny terrace and after-ski. The other two are Ravintola Sallan Maja and Evakko Pub. Sallan Maja, at Hautajärventie 32, runs a lunch and a la carte kitchen by day and its own pub, Majan Pubi, late, with karaoke, board games and a K-18 limit from 22:00. Evakko Pub is the pub at Kairalan Kievari in the village of Vallovaara, Vallovaarantie 209, in an old elementary school building, with darts and billiards in the game room.
Ravintola Sallan Maja's own pages disagree: its Finnish front page lists Mon-Thu 11–18, Fri 11–18 and again 22–04, and Sat 12–18 and again 22–02, while its English page says the pub is open Fri-Sat 21–04. Sunday is not in the hours block at all, and the Mon-Thu lunch buffet runs 11–14 at EUR 13.50 with salad buffet and coffee included.
Evakko Pub is in the village of Vallovaara, at Vallovaarantie 209. Its Fri-Sat 22–02 comes from a page whose content appears to date from 2018 and Visit Salla says only that the pub opens at weekends until the early hours when needed, so check before you set off; live music nights run to 03.
Keloravintola lists daily 13–20 and is open year round, and Papana Pupi runs on the Sallatunturin Tuvat banner, 08:00–22:00, later on winter gig nights but with no closing time published. Searching for Keloravintola also turns up a different one at Lapland Hotels Luostotunturi; the Salla one is at Revontulentie 9.
